When a session cannot be sent to your watch — sending to Garmin watches is paused at the moment — a structured session still reaches it as a file. It takes a cable and a minute.
- Open the session in your Plan and press ↓ FIT. It appears on sessions with steps and targets, not on a free "easy hour".
- Connect the watch to your computer with its charging cable.
- Copy the file into the watch's GARMIN folder, and inside it into NewFiles.
- Unplug. The watch files it away as a workout — usually under Training → Workouts — ready to start like any other.
Worth knowing:
- On a Mac, newer Garmin watches do not show up in Finder. They connect in a transfer mode Finder does not read, so you need a small file-transfer app for it. On Windows the watch appears as a device.
- The targets are worked out from your thresholds today. The file carries watts, pace or heart rate, not percentages. If you change your FTP or threshold pace, download the session again.
- Without the threshold a session needs, the download says so and asks you to set it first. A target built on a placeholder number would be worse than none.
